Minty Garlicy Yogurt Dip / Haydari

Ingredients

  • 200 grams strained plain yogurt
  • 3 tablespoons white or feta cheese optional
  • 2-3 garlic cloves crushed
  • 1 tablespoon fresh or dry dill optional
  • 1 tablespoon fresh or dry mint
  • ½ teaspoon salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil optional
  • 1 pinch red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Grate the cheese - if using
  • Chop the dill if fresh - if using.
  • Chop the mint, if fresh.
  • Mix all the ingredients until well blended to obtain a thick, creamy texture.
  • Garnish red pepper flakes, if using.
  • Serve chilled.

Notes

The recipe will turn out better if you use strained yogurt. If not available try to use parts of yogurt that are not very watery. If you want to make your own strained yogurt, you can do so by putting your yogurt into a cheesecloth and waiting or pressing down to get rid of the excess water in the yogurt.
Adjust the mint and the salt according to your taste.
