No Bake Mosaic Cake: Chocolate And Biscuits

Sharing is caring!

Jump to Recipe

Mosaic Cake is originally Italian, specifically Sicily, where it is called Salame di Cioccolato-Chocolate Salami. In places like Turkey and Syria it is called Mosaic Cake because it looks like a mosaic. This cake is also called lazy cake as it is very easy to prepare even for those who do not like the hassle of making a cake.

The cake does not need baking. You need to melt the butter and this is all the cooking involved.  It is a cake that can be prepared together with the kids. The ingredients are available pretty much everywhere. I hope petite beure biscuits will not be a problem to find, if so tea biscuits or Graham crackers will also serve.

Petite beure biscuits are plain, sweet biscuits. You need to crumble them with your hands. Do not use a food processor as they might turn into powder. Putting the biscuits into a zipped plastic bag and crushing with a rolling pin is also possible. But frankly just crumbling with your hands is no big deal and I find it the easiest way.

Melt the butter and mix everything together. You can give any shape you like. You can use cupcake paper, you can use a cake serving dish or make a big triangle prizma, which is the most common shape in Turkey.

You should keep it in the freezer, it can stay in the freezer for quite a long time. Slice and serve chilled. This is a must have for kids birthday parties.

Enjoy.
